twist of fait accomplis
After a nice four-day weekend up in New Jersey visiting my family, I got hit on Monday night with some discomfort in my stomach. It was still there in the morning, but I went to work anyway. By noon, it was clear I had to come home... I was just feeling bad.
The rest of the afternoon was spent trying to get some sleep (too much pain) and throwing up, something I haven't done because of illness since ten years ago in Vietnam when I got some bad ice. By 4pm, I realized I needed to go to the doctor's, but unfortunately, it was too late. They referred me to the urgent care facility they're affiliated with... 15 miles away. I opted for the one half a mile from my house instead.
Of course, "urgent" care is a bit of a misnomer, but I suppose it sounds better than "The Place That's Open a Few Hours Later Than Your Doctor's Office." I did leave with a nice shot in the arm to alleviate some of the pain and nausea and as a thank-you gift, I puked in their bathroom.
I got home at about 7:30pm and plopped down on the bed. The doctor told me the shot would make me sleepy, and let's just say, she was right. I didn't get up out of bed for the day until noon. I don't remember the last time I slept that long.
I'm feeling a bit better today, but will still be working from home tomorrow to avoid spreading germs. Hopefully these last few lingering pains will be gone in the next day or so.
