And now allow me to tell you what's not fun:

1. Finding your basement is flooding right before you head up to bed.
2. Having to turn the air conditioner on a hot night off to stop the water.
3. Cleaning said basement until 2:30 in the morning.

Thankfully, even though there was a fair amount of water, there doesn't seem to be major damage to anything important. Some papers and books got wet. Some records (thankfully just my crappy R&B and house records which I shouldn't own anyway). And a few other things. But mostly just empty boxes that I'd been meaning to take out to recycling.

The downside: the last time this happened (assuming it's the same problem)--almost exactly seven years ago--it was a little pricey to fix it.
