twist of fait accomplis
Arquay was kind enough to point out I've been a little lax with the blog lately:
[12:51] arquay: dude...you're getting really bad at updating fait
[12:51] arquay: except for the usual:
[12:51] arquay: this weekend huyen and I...
[12:51] laze: tell me about it.
[12:51] arquay: ...planted a tree at poplar farms...
[12:52] arquay: ...while running a marathon with stace and jules...
[12:52] arquay: ;)
[12:52] arquay: ok, so I'm paraphrasing. :)
Apparently, I have more in common with Robo-Me than I thought.
So, with that in mind, time for another cop-out catch-up post.
Had a CT scan done of my abdomen last week. All is fine, but tell that to the 8-year-old off-and-on pain in my side. And, no, that's not how I refer to Huyen.
We spent some time at Smith Mountain Lake for the Memorial Day Weekend, enjoying a trip to Veggie Heaven on the way down and a surprisingly small Whole Foods on the way back. I came away with a little bit of color, but not enough to cause any peeling (or nasty blistering) but Huyen battled sore muscles for a week from some hardcore tubing on the lake Saturday night.
On our way home, we passed a Chow walking alongside a pretty busy highway, occasionally crossing the street and generally wandering aimlessly. I got out of the car and tried to get the dog to come to me. He didn't bare his teeth or run, but he was clearly not interested in human contact. We placed several calls to animal control ("We don't work on weekends") and a police dispatcher ("An officer has already been out there and determined that the dog isn't a danger to traffic." Apparently walking across a road where cars are driving at 55 isn't a danger to traffic.). I felt awful, but the dog, who looked pretty ruffled and beat up, was intent on being alone.
Today Verizon's working on underground lines on our street. When I came out to my car this morning, our tiny front yard had three gigantic holes in it. Should be interesting to see how well they cover things back up. I was pretty impressed with how cautious they were digging, being very careful not to ruin the lawn.
Work's, uh... yeah.
Did you hear Ronald Regan died? Paul and I were discussing about how it's been hard to find any information online or on television about it. Weird. You'd think someone out there would think to use the headline "Remembering Reagan."
And, lastly, because you know I couldn't go more than one post without mentioning Maury, next week I'll have a brief mention in the Sydney Morning Herald in their Radar section.
11:51 AMTwo things in response to your post:
1)I chased a lost dog for 20 minutes last week all over the area I live until another guy and I caught it. I thought it was going to get plowed over a few times, but it was able to avoid cars. I did this barefoot:(
2) I saw a bunch of stuff on Saturday about Reagan, since he had passed that day. They were interviewing George H.W. Bush and Barbara, and a ton of other stuff. I haven't seen the tv since, but I do know that when you go to cnn.com and use im there is a bunch of stuff on his death. I think there is going to be a massive line to pay respects in DC tomorrow. I may try and go.
Posted by: Matt on June 8, 2004 4:18 PMMy comment on Reagan coverage was 100% sarcastic. :) Everywhere I turn that's all that's being talked about... on Fox 5 they actually interviewed a guy who rode a horse in the procession during another president's funeral and will also be in Reagan's. A guy on a horse! That's newsworthy?
Posted by: Ryan on June 8, 2004 4:21 PMI, for one, love any update you make. :-)
Posted by: Robert on June 8, 2004 4:31 PMYour updates are like the music of angels.
And you update more often than I do, no matter what.
