Tips for the employed

A note to anyone in a customer service position (or anyone concerned with being polite): When someone thanks you, "Uh-huh" is not the same as "You're welcome."

I do that all the time, and I think about it every time I say 'Uh Huh'. After I say it, I wonder what is wrong with me that I can never spit out 'You're Welcome'. 'Uh Huh' is instinctual for some reason.

I get "yup" instead of "you're welcome" a lot.

I find that I tend to say "Sure" in reply to "Thank you". But I say it in that "You're welcome" tone, so that counts for something.
