Most of my posts this month have been movie-related, so here's a less structured rundown on what's up in Lazeland these days.

Monday was my 27th birthday, as you may have figured out from the cake picture earlier in the week. Thanks to everyone who sent along birthday wishes (even the random Indonesian Picture It... reader!). It was a nice low-key b-day, which is how I like it.

I haven't gotten to watch nearly as many horror movies as I'd like to this much (no, I'm not watching each movie as I post them this month... I wish!). I hope to remedy that in the two coming weekends.

For work, I've been maintaining a technical conference's web site. I found out this week that one of the conference attendees, a young woman who had also submitted a paper to present at the conference (but was rejected), was murdered at NC State as part of a murder-suicide on campus. And then, my mom informed me today that a young man my age that used to live in our neighborhood was just arrested for murdering his mother. The guy's name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure if I ever knew him...

The frame shop that Huyen works at told her she doesn't have to come in this week. Apparently business has come to an absolute standstill after the sniper shooting across the street earlier this week. I bet businesses all over are hurting because of this. Unfortunately, when you have witnesses making shit up, it may still be a while before anyone's charged.

To random people on the Internet: please stop searching for "Sumi Das Nude," "Spongebob porn," and "12-year-olds having sex." Go to Rob's site and search for "long nipples."

Anyone have recommendations for resources about buying fresh-water fish? (As pets, not to eat. Duh.)
