twist of fait accomplis
High school friend Amy wrote to pass along a letter she wrote to Us Magazine about a pretty startling ad they have appearing in their magazine for a weight loss drug called Anorex.
Anorex!
Klein-Becker's new motto might as well be "Klein-Becker: bringing a distorted body image to a whole new generation!"
12:36 PMThis reads like a bad SNL sketch.
Posted by: Robert on September 6, 2002 7:29 PMThe real problem today is we teach our children it's ok to be obese and mothers are throwing junk food at them so they can sit their fat arses at the computer. If you have a genetic problem wich causes you to be larger, then fine your a big beautiful person. On a more serious note, if you are anorexic, does the name ANOREX make you nervous thinking you may have some more compitition, meaning more chicks who may be thinner than you....It's a cool name, get over it.
Posted by: Jaime on December 18, 2002 2:36 AMHi- this is to that dumb ass jaimie- fuck you, jaimie. "...Anorex is a cool name, get over it"????? do you have any idea how triggering things like that are? no, probably not, because more than likely, you have never dealt with an ED.Just take a pill and the problem goes away. Nifty Americanized idea, eh? Just the name itself did alot to me- "Anorex, a pill to make you anorexic." Oh, yea, it's an awesome name. Cause you know the hundreds of girls who already have body distortion disorders really need assistance toward an ED really need a pill. Cause ya know we aren't sick enough.
Posted by: Connie on January 7, 2003 2:55 AMwhen i first saw the ad for "anorex" it did kind of catch me off guard. they should have left the original name "leptoprin", but for whatever reason it was, they felt justified to change it. i neither agree, nor disagree. the name of the pill is actually what got me to read about it. i thought it was a pill to "help anorexics", but after reading what it really was, i decided to buy a bottle. yes, i agree EXERCISE and DIET are the best way to lose weight, but for some of us, that alone does not work. i was always a "thin" person, until a few years ago when weight just started piling on me for no reason. EXERCISE and DIET did not help me lose, and did not stop me from gaining. we all know there is NO miracle pill, although deep down i'm sure we have all wished there was at one point, but for some of us, something other than diet and exercise is NEEDED. i am one of those people. the name of this pill did not make a difference in my choice to purchase a bottle. i do understand eating disorders are VERY serious, as i know a couple people who suffer from them, and although the name of the product is uncalled for, i decided to try it anyway. if it works, it works, if it don't then it don't. we all learn from trial and error. also to reply on the "accusation" that parents teach their children its "OK" to be obese, overweight or fat is just ridiculous. i do not know a parent in the world that tells their child "c'mon honey, eat this food, momma wants you nice and fat". we do what we can do. you can't constantly tell a child NOT to eat certain things or they will become fat, and you can't keep giving your child extra portions of desert... either way, depending on that child and what happens in their life, they will become "OBSESSED" with their weight and develop an eating disorder (either eating too much, or not enough). people are all about "body image" and as sad as it is, everyones focus is on "being perfect". as bad as it is to say it, its not anyones fault but our own, no matter what kind of eating disorder we have. fat people, thin people, anorexics, bulimics.... we are all our own worst enemies. if we could all just learn to be happy with ourselves we wouldn't have any of these problems... if we'd quit "buying" into the media's view of what "sexy", "beautiful", or "politically right" is, we'd all have a happier, healthier life. there are just as many "thin" people who are in bad health as there are "fat people, and just as many "fat" people in great health as there are "thin" people. healthy is not a weight, its a lifestyle.... sexy, beautiful, politically right, its not being thin, its being who you are. once we learn that, we will all be alright. we can't lash out on ignorant people who take advantage of our mental instabilities, we have to learn to take responsibility for our own actions. some arrogant idiot who named a diet pill "ANOREX" isn't anymore to blame than the person who is anorexic. its a shame they do it, but its really a shame we allow it. look at me, i've let the media's view of beautiful affect me, i fell for it, i bought into it. i can blame them, or i can change myself. we are all at fault... we can't get mad at anyone but ourselves for allowing it to happen. without us, it wouldn't exist in the first place.
Posted by: AnonomousOne on February 28, 2003 11:23 PMi agree with annonomous. we are our own worst problem. also a pill by the name of anorex shouldn't be any big deal. its not the companies fault there are stupid people in this world who starve themselves to death. we know what we're doing before we do it, so in essence we suffer from our own stupidityy. all of these anorexics and bulemics need to grow up and stop being so dumb, if they are that mental then they need to seek professional help, if they don't then what happens, happens. no ones faulty but their own. i say all the companies have the right to name pills after us dumbasses. if we have the right to be so stupid, they have the right to make money off of us and make us look even dumber. MORE POWER TO ANOREX!!! MAKE ANOTHER PILL NAMED AFTER BULEMICS.... SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE GET THEIR ASSES IN A WHIRL THEN! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Posted by: on April 20, 2003 9:17 AMProbably like your skin's going to fall off.
Oh, wait, that's Leprosin.
Posted by: Ryan on April 20, 2003 12:56 PMok, before you go out to spend $80-$150 on a bottle or anorex(leptoprin)just realize it has the same ingredients as most ephedra suppliments...caffeine, ephedrine, green tea extract, l-tyrosine, cayenne, and various vitamins and minerals...the only difference is that it also contains Kelp---which you can buy for about $10 a bottle at vitamin shop--people swear by kelp because it helps regulate the thyroid. But ust so you know i have never taken this prduct, so I dont know how you would feel physically and mentally....but I would assume by the ingrediants that it feels the same as all thoose other lovely ephedra suppliments.
Posted by: Lauren on May 15, 2003 2:22 PMI'll never take an ephedra based supplement again. That stuff is vicious; high blood pressure, hemmoriods, blured vision, acne, insomnia and anxiety attacks are just some of the lovely side effects you should expect.
Posted by: on July 9, 2003 12:18 PMDo you really loose weight? Im desperate, im fat and i need to loose some. What side effects does anorex have?

if you all read the ingredients in anorex stimulant-free. they take out the guess work out of it and i see no reason why other people wants to lay blame on them for the name and the ingredients.i have taken stimulant-free anorex and i do like it alot. i do not take the regular anorex or letroprin type. but i buy the stimulant-free types. all you have to do is read the label like anything else get as much information as you can on it. call them up as ask them. i am getting tired of people not getting all the information about any product but they seem to know everything about it. but still does not know anything. just take your time and read all you can about the product as for me i will still be taking it and this product does have a patented on it. so be inform the best way possible read the infomationand most things we do if taken in moderation is good for us but most people go overboard onmost things it could be just one or many things and they wonder why they are like that. be extreme is not good. thats for the ones that wants to live on the edge one of these days you might fall off the edge.

Posted by: frank egolf on August 18, 2003 4:13 PMBesides the stupid name and the horrible eating disorders that society "may" create because of the desire to be skinny and beautiful,...I bought a bottle of Anorex for 75 bucks. I dont really care about looking sexy or being desired by other women. I NEVER thought I would pay this much for any diet pill, but my concern now is health. I am a firm beliver of the notion of a beautiful body inside showing on the outside. If you make the internal body healthy, then confidence, high self esteem and positive motivation will happen, resulting in inner beauty. I have three small children and a body mass index of 35,..so medically, I am obese. (and I feel it) I can run 5 miles at a time (every other day) and I eat good for the most part,..but my weight does not change what so ever. This is the last straw,..paying such a high price for this product tells you that I am desperate. I have researched this product bigtime and read more reviews and feedback pages about it, to the point that I am sick of hearing about it. I will let you know later what happens and what I felt different for those of you who are wondering. The true test begins today,..I am excited but not expecting too much. If this doesnt work,..I will never buy another diet pill again.
Stuff I have used before,..all with the stimulant.

I am a medical terminologist. Anorex is a medical term that means "not hungry" or "loss of appetite". Anorexia is a condition that is very serious, but it doesn't nesscesary mean that, Anorex the product, is supporting this condition. It is simply stated the product desire effects. However, I agree that Leptoprin's genric name is less than desirable.
Posted by: metoo on February 8, 2004 9:58 PMI have been taking Leptoprin for almost a month, and I am absolutely ecstatic with the results. I have lost about 10-12 pounds so far. The thing I really like is the fact that I am no onger obsessed with food. Prior to this product, I would be snacking day in and day out. I seriously lacked the self control to stop. I now have no problem eating only 3 meals a day, and not snacking constantly. I am not at all jumpy, rather I feel "balanced". I was somewhat concerned when I read that Leptoprin can trigger depression (i suffer from it ). I feel like I not only got a great weight loss pill, but i also got a wonderful anti-depressant. i am curious as to whether the effects of Leptoprin are physical, or if it is all mental....either way, i love it!
Posted by: Michele on March 14, 2004 10:19 PMI am interested in losing weight. I don't like taking pills and am starting an intensive workout and eating regimen. Is there something that doesn't costs so much that has similar ingredients? I mean 153.00 for 10-12 lbs seems a bit high don't you think?
