Dave stopped by briefly this evening and when we went down the basement, he noticed there was a puddle on the floor. Good thing we went down there: the puddle had started sometime today and it was mere inches from my (dozen) boxes of records. The air conditioner unit in the basement was leaking out the back. A quick check online and a brief talk with my dad narrowed it down to a few problems.

I'm crossing my fingers that it's a matter of replacing a 59 cent filter and not a $1000 rusted out coil. Whatever the case, the air conditioner is off tonight and my basement floodaphobia has gotten worse.
