twist of fait accomplis

Some things old guys just shouldn't say

I kid you not: on the news this morning, there was a political roundtable discussion. The old, white guy, who looked in really bad shape at probably around 65 years old, used the word "dissed" without pausing and with a straight face.

I turned away before he broke out "phat" and "dope."

Yo, G, don't go dissin' my political homeboys. Word. Now where's my Geritol?

My mother, who is over 50, just used the word "wanna" in an e-mail. She raised me to use proper grammar, so of course I cringed when I saw that. I think of "wanna" as something said by fourth-graders and in AOL chat rooms.
