twist of fait accomplis
Mighty Matt Wright let me know that the Dutchmassive "Evaporate" 12" is now available for pre-order at Sandbox Automatic. Why would you care? Because the flipside has a song on it called "The Hook." You still don't know why you should care?
Several years ago the producer, Celph Titled (who produced such boomshots as "Windows 98," which made a hip-hop beat out of the default Windows sound scheme) dropped me an e-mail. He had heard a friend's copy of Simply Poetic, an album which I distributed and did 95% of the production for. Celph liked one of the beats I did called "One Hell of a Night" and asked if he could sample it (even though my beat was also based on samples) since no one could tell him what the original sample was, and I also had no clue. That beat eventually became incorporated into "The Hook" and I got a co-production credit (or something similar) on the UK-released single.
Cool stuff. So while I don't expect you're going to run to the site and pre-order the vinyl, I can encourage you to check out the Real Audio sound clip of the song and check out the beat. You also may want to check out two good interviews with Celph Titled at MVRemix.com.
