The thing is, there are three people on Classmates I'd really like to contact, but I'm not willing to pay $29 for their info (I just keep hoping they submit info to my high school's own free alumni page). I wonder if Classmates has considered a pay-per-request rather than a flat yearly fee. I'd be willing to pay a buck each to get their e-mail addresses.

Considering that people realized 12 months ago that no dot-com could even break even with just advertisting revenue I don't know where else they can get money except subscriptions. If they didn't charge money, the service wouldn't exist.
