Well, it looks like all
Well, it looks like all of the high school alumni sites are starting to charge for things like, oh, being able to get someone's e-mail address! Classmates always has, but now Highschoolalumni.com and Planet Alumni are as well. Argh.

The thing is, there are three people on Classmates I'd really like to contact, but I'm not willing to pay $29 for their info (I just keep hoping they submit info to my high school's own free alumni page). I wonder if Classmates has considered a pay-per-request rather than a flat yearly fee. I'd be willing to pay a buck each to get their e-mail addresses. 11:16 AM

Considering that people realized 12 months ago that no dot-com could even break even with just advertisting revenue I don't know where else they can get money except subscriptions. If they didn't charge money, the service wouldn't exist.

I don't know about you, Terry, but I think that they should offer a pay-per-request option, as I doubt many people will really latch onto the subscription model for alumni sites.

Agreed. How many times over the course of a year will you need an email address, once you first have access to it? If those services offer a 'community' of some sort, they're shooting themselves in the foot by providing email addresses.
